The brand name Prodotto Certificato dell'Alto Adriatico (PCAA), (Certified Upper Adriatic Product) developed as part of the ADRI.FISH project, has established a certification system for all the products fished, bred, gathered and packaged in the Upper Adriatic, conceived as a production system using resources and natural regulatory mechanisms to ensure that all its activities are sustainable.

The methods used to obtain these products must therefore respect and safeguard ecosystems, nature conservation and environmental diversity. One of the aims of the Adri.Fish project is to implement a co-ordinated, trans-national action campaign for the certification, promotion and marketing of fisheries products, by making products traceable at any stage of the production process and by setting up a regulatory mechanism in order to be able to award Upper Adriatic fisheries products a single quality brand.

Traceability of certified products is possible though an online checking service. If the consumer has bought PCAA products (evident form the PCAA logo), it is possible to trace the product back by entering the batch number shown on the label into a field on the computer screen.
